Meta-Girl Meets Dynamite Thor: Page 1

Welcome to the first Flying Sparks side comic!  This is a 6-page piece with lines by Marian Mars and colors by Tuomo Kakkonen.

A few months ago, I stumbled upon the link to: http://www.againwiththecomics.com/2010/01/asgardian-dynamite.html which introduced me to the 1940s superhero “Dynamite Thor” for the first time.  Every panel is filled with some of the most over the top, goofy concepts I could have never come up with, and so naturally, I fell in love with the hero.   Ever since then, I’ve been coming up with ideas to revive Dynamite Thor in the present day.  Of course, I was filled with questions.  How would a Golden Age hero react in the modern world?  What’s his back story?  Will his powers stay the same?  What are the repercussions of chucking dynamite everywhere?  All of it’s still on my mind, and I really really really really want to make a full 22-page Dynamite Thor comic if there’s any artists out there who would like to work with me.

Since my primary piece is Flying Sparks, the idea of Meta-Girl running into Dynamite Thor started to play out in my head.  That whole idea is a quick story, and one that wouldn’t bear too heavily on Flying Sparks continuity, but still is a nice addition to the universe, and is a heckuvalotta fun.  Thankfully my friends were willing to help out here and get this drawn for me :)

As you can see, I took a light hearted approach with Dynamite Thor, still keeping him like a golden age character so he in essence just has become a caricature.  Will I keep him this way when I write him again in the future?  I don’t know.  But I could write silly golden age heroes out of place in the real world all day long.  it’s really fun.

Thanks again Marian and Tuomo for working on this, and I hope everyone who reads enjoys!
