Flying Sparks: Into Fire.   But now I’m off to see Star trek: Into Darkness.  Hopefully the fumes don’t get to Chloe in the meantime!

I’ve wanted to make use of Meta-Girl’s utility belt for a long time, but haven’t had an opportunity to fit it in to the story.  And so here we go!  Science students always come prepared to keep at least some of the gunk out of their lungs.

In my writing I’ve always tried to do one thing beyond anything else — focus on character.  Good characters go through changes, some of them subtle and some of them intense.  Issue 6 has really been about setting up a big change for Johnny, both in his role in the world and his internal mindset.  If you’ve been following Flying Sparks from the beginning, you’ll notice Johnny’s held different opinions on how his powers should be used.  At first, it was sparingly, only in life threatening situations. Then it stepped up to be in his mind in defense of Chloe, and now, he’s not holding back.  I love how everything’s been ramping up and things haven’t even gone  completely crazy yet!

Jethro and Shannon as always did an excellent job on the art.  It’s chilling watching Johnny make this decision to execute someone.  As always, props to them.

Sometimes henchmen aren’t inept!  Sweet move.

Johnny and co. survived, but can he stop the assassin?!?! Stay tuned next week!

Chloe and Detective Liu work so well together. It’s a joy to write pages with both of them. One day, I will get around to doing the Detective Liu spinoff comic that I keep wanting to do.

A beautiful action sequence by Jethro Morales (Lines) and Shannon Ho (Colors).  I love how it all flows together, allows the reader to use some imagination and yet conveys urgency.  But enough geeking out about art… or is it?  Maybe I’ll spend the whole day geeking out about art.

I love stressing the characters and getting into their heads in this comic. I rediscovered Star Trek: CCG this week. It was a game I played all through my youth, and though in that rediscovery I find it’s not quite as great as I remember it being, it’s still a lot of fun.  Any of you guys play any games or have oldschool hobbies like that?  Hopefully not setting small businesses ablaze.
